Beat the Heat

Five Days of Water, Silliness, and Summer at Full Volume

Wet & Wacky Day Camp is built for the week summer really arrives. Brand new water games, creek stomps, water science experiments, and pool dance parties fill every afternoon. Obstacle courses get hosed down and run again. The classic camp games all get a modified, splashier version. If there is a way to put more water on the day, Wet & Wacky has already thought of it.

On top of the water focus, campers get the full day camp experience at Gretna Glen. Swimming, fishing, boating, group games, songs, crafts, and Bible Discovery all fit around the wet-and-wacky theme. The theme runs through the whole week with one idea running underneath it: Jesus is the living water, and campers learn what that means by spending a week mostly soaked.

What to Expect

A Week Where Everything Gets Wet

Water games, creek stomps, pool parties, and classic day camp activities from 9 to 3:30 every day.

Brand New Water Games

Games designed to be played wet. Relay races with water buckets, soaked obstacle courses, and water-balloon versions of classics that only make sense when the temperature hits July-hot.

Creek Stomps & Water Science

Wade into the Gretna Glen creek and see what lives there. Water science experiments turn the creek and pool into a hands-on lab for buoyancy, flow, and all the physics kids do not know they are learning.

Pool Dance Parties

Afternoon pool time turns into a full dance party. Music, slides, and the kind of energy that drives parents to ask what on earth happened at camp today.

Living Water

Bible Discovery time connects to the theme through Jesus's words about living water. The campfire conversations hit differently when the lesson is visible in everything campers have done all day.

Two Age Groups, One Big Water Balloon Fight

Built for Ages 5-8 and 9-13

Wet & Wacky runs two tracks side by side. Younger campers (ages 5-8, code DCY6) and older campers (ages 9-13, code DCO6) share the same camp but experience age-appropriate versions of every activity. Younger campers focus on sensory-rich play and gentler obstacle courses. Older campers get into the harder water science, faster games, and deeper creek stomps.

Both groups end every day soaked, tired, and laughing. When registering, you can request one bunkmate in the same age category as your camper.

WHAT PARENTS SHOULD KNOW

Day camp runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Lunch and one snack are included. Activities are hands-on, messy by design, and supervised by trained staff.

Campers will get wet every day. Pack extra clothes, a labeled towel, water shoes, and a swimsuit. A detailed packing list is available on the Get Ready page.

Gretna Glen is ACA-accredited, meeting over 300 health, safety, and quality standards. Staff are trained specifically for the age groups they serve.

Extended Day Options

AM extended day: 7:30-9:00 AM (drop off any time). PM extended day: 3:30-5:30 PM (pick up 5:15-5:30). Both available for an additional fee and include an extra camp activity. Register online.
