Camp Together

Share the Magic of Camp with a Child You Love

Some memories are better made together. My Grown-Up and Me is a two-night camp experience designed for an adult and child to share. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, guardians, and family friends are all welcome to bring a special young person in their life to Gretna Glen and experience camp side by side.

Led by camp staff and supported by local UMC pastors, this program gives both the grown-up and the child a chance to play, learn, and make new friends. You'll share meals, try new activities, sing around the campfire, and create the kind of memories that come up at every family gathering for years to come.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Two Nights of Adventure, Together

Classic camp fun, special moments of worship, and a pace that works for both grown-ups and little ones.

Camp Activities, Side by Side

Boating, crafts, swimming, waterslide, nature exploration, archery, sports, and games. You and your camper rotate through everything Gretna Glen has to offer, experiencing it all together.

Special Evenings

A dedicated pool party, game time, and campfires fill the evenings with the kind of fun that only happens at camp. These are the moments that turn a trip into a tradition.

Worship and Blessing

Special worship experiences give grown-ups the chance to share a blessing with their little one. Supported by local UMC pastors and camp staff, these moments are meaningful for both generations.

Participate at Your Pace

Grown-ups stay in the caretaker role throughout the program. You have the freedom to join in at whatever level is comfortable for you and your camper. Go all-in on the waterslide or relax by the pool.

Why It Works

The Right Length, the Right Setting

Two nights is the sweet spot for this kind of experience. It's long enough to settle into the camp rhythm, try a full range of activities, and have genuine campfire conversations. It's short enough to fit into a busy summer schedule without feeling like a major commitment for families with younger children.

The Raab Retreat Lodge makes it work for the age group. Instead of traditional cabins, families stay in a 6-bedroom lodge with bunk-style housing and restrooms in the building. Grown-up and camper pairs (or small groups) share a room, so little ones have their person close by all night. It feels more like a family adventure than roughing it.

WHERE YOU'LL STAY

Families stay in the Raab Retreat Lodge, a two-story lodge on Gretna Glen's main campus. The Lodge has 6 bedrooms with bunk-style housing and restrooms in the building. Two grown-up/camper sets are often paired in a room for the experience.

This is a mainsite program. Families eat meals in the Dining Hall and have access to all of Gretna Glen's main campus facilities.

WHAT PARENTS SHOULD KNOW

This program runs two sessions: GL31 (July 1-3) and GL61 (July 22-24). Both run Wednesday afternoon through Friday afternoon.

Adults and children must register separately. Each person needs their own registration. The cost shown is per person.

Grown-ups remain in the caretaker role throughout. Camp staff lead all programming, but you're responsible for your child during the stay. Participate in activities at whatever level is comfortable for you both.

Who Can Be the Grown-Up?
